The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state agency charged with enforcing the state’s civil rights laws and serves as a resource on human relations for the people of Florida. Position Synopsis

This is data processing technical work installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple distributed computer systems for use by end-users including the hardware, software, and communications components of distributed systems.  The primary duty of the employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class is to spend the majority of time performing these functions.

 

  • Maintaining all desktop computer systems for staff use including desktop computers, monitors, printers, and other peripheral devices.  Maintenance includes installation, upgrades, repairs, and replacements.  Installing, configuring and supporting all software, including Cloud based solutions in use by the Commission.  Supporting state government required software and all commercially produced software that enhances our operations. Working with current vendors on supporting existing infrastructure, databases and applications.
  • Training users in all desktop software.  Training users in proper use of hardware equipment.
  • Researching and implementing upgrades and equipment additions.
  • Revising and implementing solutions that make efficient use of the computer operations for every level of staff.
  • Maintaining computer and software inventories and documentation.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of office automation equipment, letter, report, and tabular formats, office procedures, principles and techniques of effective communication, basic mathematics;
  • Skill in operating a variety of multi-function automated office equipment;
  • Ability to train individuals or groups of people.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of materials relating to training functions.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to computer error messages.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, and to organize and coordinate work assignments.

 

Preferences

 

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with experience working in a State of Florida Agency.
